Need a
Domain Name? Don't
get ripped off by domain name speculators!
Use the registrar you prefer, but don't
search WHOIS for your new domain name unless you're prepared to buy the name with a credit card, on the spot. There are
daily "names searched on WHOIS, but not registered" reports.
If a speculator thinks the name is creative and you will want the name later, s/he
buys it. At bulk rates, they basically
place a $5 bet that the searcher will pay hundreds more to
get the name rather than change their marketing concept or
company name. This is a
common practice, so don't get ripped off for the domain name you
